Newgale
is a nice long beach break, safe for all levels of surfing.
At
high tide the surf is generally swallowed up as the water
pushes up onto a steep pebble bank. The pebbles, which
often get pushed over onto the road below after big tides
and heavy swells. Newgale - mart
The
surf is normally a bit bigger than at Whitesands, a little
further up the coast. It faces a similar direction to
Freshwater West but is alot tamer and never as big or
heavey.
If
freshwater West is out of your league then head over to
Newgale for a more manageable session. At low tide there
are normally plenty of peaks to be had - so time your
surf accordingly. On bigger days with offshore winds,
Newgale gets nice and hollow and has been known to produce
6ft barrels.

There
are often good peaks to the left hand side of the beach
@ mid/low tide so take a wander if it's crowded.
The
local surf shop - Newsurf do a daily report and also out
hire boards and wetsuits.
There
is a handy surf check vantage point and carpark on the
left hand side as you come down the hill into Newgale
from the West.
Nearby,
there's a campsite at the back of the beach providing
handy accomodation for travelling surfers. Up in the village
after the bridge, you'll find a few little shops and cafes
but that's about it.
